New here? You can get your first forecast in just a few steps.
Let's get you set up
- Sign in and open Location. Save a city, harbor, address, or your current position.
- Open Configuration and add your solar array, battery bank, charging sources, everyday loads, and any optional tasks. Then select Save settings.
- Head back to Dashboard, set the SOC slider to your battery's current charge, then select Run to generate the SoC outlook and assistant brief.

Use the top bar to move around HelioHelm. The orange button shows where you are now.
Your account
Sign up, log in, reset your password, or sign out.
Sign up or log in
- Use your email and password, or continue with Google or Facebook when those options are available.
- Forgot your password? Select Forgot Password? and follow the steps on screen.
- Using a shared device? Remember to sign out when you're done.
What follows your account
Your location, configuration, and membership are saved to your account. The SOC slider stays in this browser, so check it when you switch devices.
Set your location
Tell HelioHelm where you are so it can build the right forecast.
Find your location
- Search for a city, harbor, or address, then choose the right result to save it.
- Select Use current to use your device's position. Your browser may ask for permission first.
- Once your location is saved, you'll see it on the Windy solar-radiation map.
Keep it up to date
Turn on Auto-update if you want HelioHelm to refresh your position automatically. If it can't access your location, it keeps the last one you saved.
Location accuracy
If your vessel is moving, update your location before checking a new forecast.
Why location matters
HelioHelm uses your saved position to select local weather and cloud conditions, then combines them with your panel configuration to estimate hourly solar generation.
Set up your system
Add your energy equipment and the loads you use every day.
Solar array
- Add the total installed wattage of all your solar panels.
- HelioHelm combines the installed wattage with location-aware weather and cloud cover to build the solar forecast, so keep it current when your array changes.
Battery system
- Choose your battery chemistry, then add its capacity, system voltage, usable depth of discharge, and the battery charger's output in amps if you use a generator to charge the battery bank.
- Charging uses chemistry-specific efficiency, C-rate, voltage, and high-SoC taper for lithium, AGM, gel, and lead-acid. Discharge follows your configured capacity, voltage, and usable depth.
Other generation sources
- Add alternator output in amps, wind-generator output in watts, and generator output in kilowatts. Leave anything you don't use at zero.
- Accurate generator, alternator, and charger values let the Premium assistant estimate auxiliary charging and plan reserve protection.
Baseline loads
Choose Baseline consumption for one simple average, or Detailed baseline devices to list each load. Mark equipment that runs all day as Always on.
Optional tasks
Add flexible jobs such as watermaking, laundry, or dive compressor use, including each task's power and usual duration. The Premium assistant can compare start times and estimate the task's energy and SoC impact.
Save changes
When you're finished, select Save settings and wait for the Saved message. Use zero for equipment you don't have.
Read your dashboard
See what your system is likely to generate, use, and store.
Start with your current charge
Set the SOC slider to match your battery monitor, then select Run. HelioHelm uses that value to generate the next 24-hour SoC outlook and assistant brief.
Follow the forecast
- Orange shows forecast generation, blue shows your projected battery charge, and pink warns when charge may fall below your DoD limit.
- Cloud-cover changes can create dips and recoveries in the solar curve. If your vessel has moved, update its location before relying on a new outlook.
- Hover or tap the chart for more detail. Switch between 24h, 48h, and 72h, or open the chart fullscreen.
SoC and DoD
SoC is how much charge you have left. DoD is how much you've used. Treat a DoD warning as a heads-up, and always check your onboard instruments.
How the battery outlook is modelled
HelioHelm limits charging according to the selected battery chemistry and current SoC, including reduced charge acceptance near full. Discharge is projected from your bank's capacity, system voltage, loads, and usable-depth limit.
Daily balance
Daily balance compares expected generation with your everyday loads. A positive number means extra energy; a negative number means a shortfall. Hover or tap a day for details.
Ask the Premium assistant
Get practical planning help based on your system and forecast.
Daily brief
If you have Premium, the assistant prepares a daily brief using your location, setup, current charge, loads, and forecast. It highlights reserve risk, useful solar-surplus periods, and auxiliary charging context when configured.
Plan optional loads
Ask when to run a configured task or how it affects your reserve. The assistant compares candidate start times against the forecast and baseline load, and can evaluate a different duration when you specify one in your question.
Plan auxiliary charging
When a generator or engine alternator is configured, the assistant can estimate battery-delivered charge, time to a target SoC, and when and how long to run the source if the usable reserve is at risk.
If no auxiliary source is configured, HelioHelm will say that it cannot calculate a charging plan rather than guessing.
Review your setup
Ask about the solar array, battery, charging sources, baseline loads, or optional tasks saved to your account. The assistant reviews those configured values; it cannot inspect physical wiring, equipment condition, or live measurements.
Ask a question
- Edit the suggested question or write your own. Press Enter to send, or Shift+Enter for a new line.
- You can stop a reply while it's being written or open the panel fullscreen.
- The assistant helps with planning, but your live readings and equipment safety limits always come first.
Standard accounts
You can still use forecasts and dashboard charts on the Standard plan. Upgrade to Premium whenever you want to use the assistant.
Manage your plan
Upgrade to Premium or take care of your subscription.
Upgrade
Open Account, find Membership, and select Upgrade. Browser checkout uses the secure web checkout; the iOS and Android apps open the device store purchase screen. It may take a moment for your plan to update.
Manage billing
Select Manage billing for the provider where you subscribed. Web subscriptions open the billing portal; App Store and Google Play subscriptions are managed through the native store. If you've cancelled, HelioHelm shows when your Premium access will end.
Add HelioHelm to your phone
Keep HelioHelm on your home screen for quick access.
Use the install banner
On supported mobile browsers, you'll see an Add to Home Screen banner. Tap Install when the option appears.
Install from the browser menu
- iPhone or iPad: Share menu → Add to Home Screen.
- Android: Browser menu → Install app or Add to Home screen.
- Dismissed the banner? No problem—the browser menu still works.
When something isn't working
Try these quick checks for the most common problems.
I can't see a forecast
Check that you've saved a location and your configuration. Then reload Dashboard and make sure you're online.
My current location isn't working
Allow location access in your browser or device settings. You can also search for a nearby city, harbor, or address.
My settings won't save
Check the message at the top of the page. Required values must be above zero, usable capacity must be between 1% and 100%, and unused sources should be zero.
The assistant isn't available
Check that Account shows a Premium membership and that you have a saved location and forecast. If you just upgraded, reload the app and try again.
The forecast doesn't match my instruments
Double-check your location, current charge, battery capacity and voltage, panel wattage, and loads. HelioHelm is a planning tool—your charge controller and battery monitor are the final word.
